01 / SETUP

Get ready

  1. Open Claude on the web or desktop and check that artifacts are enabled in Settings > Capabilities.
  2. Write down one user, one job, and the smallest useful interaction.
02 / PROMPT

Give it this

Create an interactive artifact for this idea: [describe it]. The intended user is [person], and their main job is [job]. Include only the inputs and output needed for one complete example. Use readable labels, keyboard-friendly controls, and a clear empty state. Use sample data, not real customer data. Explain what this prototype cannot do yet, then give me three realistic things to test with a user.

03 / WORKFLOW

Make it useful

  1. Try the main path and an empty or invalid input yourself.
  2. Ask one person to complete the task without coaching, and note where they hesitate.
  3. Revise the artifact based on that observation before treating it as a build specification.

One thing to check. An artifact is a prototype, not a production app. Check accessibility, data handling, and edge cases before shipping it.
